Sergeant - Northeast Regional Command Job ID: 10202 Business Unit: MTA Headquarters Location: New York, NY, United States Regular/Temporary: Regular Department: Eastern Southern Chief Date Posted: Jan 17, 2025 Description INTERNAL JOB POSTING - ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT MEMBERS OF THE MTA POLICE DEPARTMENT Job Title: Request for Consideration: Sergeant , North/East Regional Command Dept/DIV: MTA Police Department Supervisor: Commanding Officer , Northern Region or Eastern Region Location: Various Locations Hours of Work: Four (4) tours of ten hours, 16 minutes with three (3) consecutive rest days or three (3) tours of 12 hours, 20 minutes with four (4) consecutive rest days with a giveback day every third week (Patrol Schedule) Summary The department is seeking qualified members from the rank of Sergeant who are interested in being assigned to the Northern or Eastern Regional Command. The Sergeant will be responsible for assisting with regional train patrol, right-of-way task force, officers assigned to railroad operations centers, administrative tasks, regional projects, and officers assigned to the regional command. The Sergeant will provide varied support to the Regional Commander. Responsibilities + Supervise train patrol officers assigned to the region. + Supervise officers assigned to the regional right-of-way task force. + Supervise members assigned to LIRR 204 or Metro-North Operations Center . + Manage the Regional Extra List and Regional Command schedules. + Provide administrative support to the Regional Commander . + Perform data entry and audit records on the MTA PD Intranet . + Perform duties in the railroad OCC (MNRR RTC or LIRR Movement Bureau) . + Perform other duties as assigned for the Regional Command . Qualifications Qualified Supervisors must, at a minimum, have the following qualifications/requirements to be considered for appointment. + A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Sergeant with the MTA Police Department at the time of appointment. + Proficiency in preparing reports . + Highly motivated and organized . + Time management . + Proficient in Microsoft Office . + Strong written and communication skills . + Be willing and able to attend meetings at the direction and discretion of the Regional Commander . + Advanced communication skills including, but not limited to, being able to interact with Railroad agency representatives .
