Server - Paradise Inn - Summer Seasonal

Compensation Amount:

16.66 USD HourlyProvide guests with a dining experience appropriate to historic dining room in the National Park. Greet, take food and drink orders from and serve all guests in assigned section of dining room in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner. Ensure correct billing procedures and provide excellent service to guests, ensuring the level of service meets the company’s standards. May be scheduled for any or all of all three meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner). This position reports to the Dining Room Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Greet guests promptly and politely; answer questions about the menu, take food and beverage orders. 

Explain how various items are prepared, describe ingredients and cooking methods, suggest menu items. 

Check patron identification to ensure compliance with alcoholic beverage service requirements. 

Maintain pleasant dining experience by serving food and beverages in a friendly and efficient manner, checking on guests regularly, communicating with the kitchen, and attending to guest needs. 

Carry plates, glassware, and trays to and from tables in manner prescribed by management. 

Complete sales in POS in an accurate, efficient and friendly manner. 

Complete all “side-work” including stocking service areas with coffee, food, tableware, and linens.  

Perform setup/clean-up duties before and after each meal service including vacuuming, arranging furniture, and changing linens. 

Report gratuities at the end of each shift as required by company policy and law. 

Performs such other related duties as directed or required. 

 

SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE 

Partial High School education; High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent preferred. 

Strong sanitation habits and attention to detail. 

Food Safety certification and alcohol service TIPS/MAST certification required. 

National Park food service experience preferred. 

Ability to learn and use food service POS system including computerized cash register and credit card terminal. 

Mathematic skills. 

Strong customer service abilities; actively looks for ways to assist customers and coworkers.  

Ability to recognize and solve guest problems as necessary or communicate with management when needed. 

 

 PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS 

Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the unit. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.  

Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally. 

Ability to stand for the entire workday and climbing steps regularly.  

Withstanding temperature extremes in freezer, refrigerator walk-in and grill areas. 

Reading and writing work-related documents in English. 

Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English. 

Constantly communicates and receives verbal communication with other employees in fast-paced kitchen. 

Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties. 

EQUIPMENT USED 

Food service POS (Point of Sale) system including cash register and credit card terminal. 

Restaurant equipment, including trays, cleaning supplies and solutions, washcloths, drink machines, etc. 

Required Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) used: gloves and goggles
