Server Platform Engineer – Senior

Baptist Health is looking for a Server Platform Engineer – Senior to join our team. This is a remote position that requires residency in KY or IN

The Server Platform Engineer - Senior is responsible for the management, deployment, and support of all Windows and Linux servers operating in the Baptist Health enterprise environment and under the purview of the Platform Services team. The position participates in the management and support of data protection services, server vulnerability management activities, and server infrastructure monitoring and automation services. The position is responsible for managing infrastructure throughout the region in multiple data centers and in a hybrid-cloud model. The Server Platform Engineer works closely with other members of the Platform Services department, as well as various other IT teams and project managers, to design and implement complex business solutions which may include participation in multiple simultaneous enterprise IT project initiative.

Essential Duties:
• Deploy, manage, and support Windows and Linux virtual servers on premises and those hosted on cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Provide subject matter expertise in at least one domain of responsibility of the Platform Services – Server Infrastructure team such as Windows/Linux servers, data protection services, cloud, or automation/IaC.
• Work closely with the Baptist Security team to address server vulnerability management goals; this includes automated and manual server patch deployment and security remediation efforts.
• Participate in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity initiatives to ensure supported systems meet availability requirements. 
• Assist with data protection management services to ensure system data is protected and recoverable.
• Provide server monitoring and system availability services to application analysts and service lines.
• Resolve support tickets routed to the Platform Services – Server Infrastructure team.
• Interact with Business Analysts and peers and participate in system initiatives as required through projects, day-to-day support or ad-hoc requests.
• Participate in a 24/7 weekly on-call rotation.
• Analyze system processes and improve quality and efficiencies utilizing automation scripts and platforms such as PowerShell, Terraform, or similar tool.
• Provide expert fault resolution and root-cause analyses for system outages.
• Assist with quarterly system reviews, server life-cycle management, system tuning, and required maintenance to keep critical system components secure and performing optimally.
• Make recommendations for purchase of hardware, software, and infrastructure components.
• Provide weekly updates to management for internal team assignments and external projects.
 

Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required

Associate degree 

Six years total related experience, in lieu of degree

VMware, Microsoft, Red Hat, and cloud certifications or equivalent preferred
