We are looking for a Service Assistant I to fulfill sanitation needs and utility functions of the department at our Christiana Hospital - Newark campus.

Primarily 3:00pm-11:30pm and/or 5:30am-2:00pm
Shifts rotate based on department needs.
Every other Weekend and Holidays included.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining of three retail kitchens. Cleaning consists of floors, small and large kitchen equipment, hoods, serving lines, dish rooms, and refrigerators/freezers (reach-ins and walk-ins).
Occasionally filling in to help serve during mealtime and working pot washing position, including dish room, sanitation, trash runs and other related kitchen assignments.
Displays patient/customer “comes first” attitude.
Adheres to all infection prevention procedures, including but not limited to safe food storage temperatures, First In First Out, dating of perishable items, labeling food products, and compliance with the Delaware Food Code.
Complies with Christiana Care and department sanitation/safety responsibilities in the performance of all job assignments in accordance with Federal and State Health Codes, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards and requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent preferred or enrolled in high school.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
Able to read, write and follow instructions.
Able to lift and walk with weights up to 30 pounds.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must pass physical examination: drug-free; able to hear, able to see, able to speak, able to ambulate. Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, twist, handle, stoop, and climb as per Physical Demands Checklist.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Subject to exposure to infectious diseases through soiled trays returned to the dish room with infectious material present (i.e., needles, bandages, etc.).
Exposure to dangerous pieces of equipment. Subject to extreme temperature changes, hot wells, and refrigerator and freezer temperatures. Exposure to chemicals and cleaning supplies.
