Role Summary Responsible for driving all aspects of Serviceability requirements for Exterior, Closures, and Exterior Lighting Systems. This role demands a high degree of initiative, independent judgment, and indirect leadership capability. You will be expected to advocate, solve, and guide teams towards creative solutions and develop new design for service requirements/guidelines under compressed timelines throughout various product development phases. Responsibilities Lead the development and implementation of Serviceability of Design best practices and standards, ensuring their integration throughout the vehicle development process Actively participate in engineering design reviews and identify risk to service Develop Service Repair Strategies for Exterior trim, fascias, closures, and glazing Lead and/or support local on-site engineering investigations Identify correct service level assemblies and separate parts needed for repairs performed at service and collision centers Release production part assemblies into serviceable sub-systems for an efficient and effective service part strategy Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure Production Suppliers provide the appropriate amount of service parts based on service part release strategy Support root cause analysis for service parts that deviate from nominal value Investigate and resolve interchangeability of existing service parts concurrent with the release of new service parts Provide initial change management direction for Exterior, Closure and Exterior Lighting components Train, coach, and develop employees to exceed our customer’s expectations as you develop a culture of Serviceability within Engineering & Design Identify, define, promote emerging product and service issues to appropriate channels and into a closed loop system for problem resolution Support service procedure development for technicians to successfully repair Rivian vehicles Ensure engineering field action repair recommendations can be correctly and repeatedly performed by technicians Support Service Center Field Action bulletins (safety, compliance, customer satisfaction, service update) Research and identify tools available in the automotive industry to properly repair vehicles when necessary Provide input and expertise into the development of technical service training materials Drive Prediction, Prevention, and Protection culture in everything we do Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Technology with 3 years of relevant experience or 5+ years of equivalent work experience required 3+ years experience with demonstrated leadership in Service, Aftersales & Engineering Launch experience on a vehicle program Experience with Catia V6 and Enovia environment a plus Demonstrated experience in driving service requirements/guidelines in a complex environment Experience with managing exterior, closures, and/or exterior lighting parts for Service at an automotive OEM Ability to manage multiple projects across varying geographic locations simultaneously Willingness to work in a strong cross functional environment Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with internal and external partners Technical and professional skills in job-related area required Advanced analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex Knowledge of engineering software and systems as it pertains to job-related area Required to communicate using phone and/or e-mail Ability to view, read, and interpret technical documents Ability to perform all duties in an office environment that may contain ambient noise and temperature fluctuations Pay Disclosure Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $85k - $113k (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
