ChristianaCare is looking for a full-time Service Leader at our Union Hospital to direct the activities of assigned personnel engaged in providing a clean, sanitary, and attractive hospital environment.
The primary schedule for this position is evening shift working 3:00pm-11:30PM; requires working every other weekend and holiday rotation.

Performs Service Assistant I, II, and III duties as assigned.
Communicates to subordinates approved policies/procedures and ensures their compliance.
Maintain a helpful, productive attitude throughout the workday instilling a positive service minded attitude and feeling of pride in a job well done.
Promote a professional image of the department to our customers and staff.
Maintains good public relations with all patients, hospital, and staff personnel.
Answers Environmental Service pages and telephone in a timely manner. Communication between shifts is critical. This requires meeting and discussing operational information.
Adjusts daily work schedules to ensure adequate coverage of all areas.
Support EVS, PES, Textiles personnel during staffing needs/high volume to ensure all work schedules/discharges are completed.
Checks assigned areas to ensure work is being done accurately and personnel are following assigned schedules. Completes daily report at end of assigned shift.
Submit maintenance work orders for any repairs and follow up to ensure completion.
Effective follow up on any incident or safety violations including on weekends/holidays.
Instructs, orients, and trains employees on equipment operation, supply usage, sanitation standards, and cleaning techniques. Assists in training new Service Assistants in job skills as designated by EVS manager and Supervisor.
Handles all requests with a sense of urgency and personal importance.
Supports all aspects of quality control programs.
Ensures that all equipment is clean, as well as EVS closets, service carts, and soiled rooms.
Maintain all patient, office, and ancillary areas are clean at all times.
Aids hospital in complying with all state, federal, and local requirements.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.
Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Must be in uniform at all times.
Education and experience requirements:High school graduate or equivalent.
Two years of housekeeping experience required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Knowledge, skill, and ability requirements:Knowledge of hospital/departmental policies and procedures.
Knowledge of the work schedules and standards of all assigned areas.
Ability to read and write at a high school level.
Ability to understand and communicate in the English language.
Ability to lift and walk with a weight of up to 40 pounds.
Ability to maintain a high degree of personal hygiene.
Ability to maintain a courteous, service oriented, helpful attitude throughout the workday.
Ability to work in a standing position and carry out normally assigned duties for the entire shift.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, especially regarding patients.
Skill in oral and written communications.
Intermediate computer skills.
Knowledge of proper PPE equipment/ gear
