Service Manager

Sandvik Mining US is looking for a Service Manager!

Sandvik Mining is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a leading global supplier of equipment and tools, service and technical solutions for the mining industry. The offering covers rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading and hauling and materials handling. 

Key Performance Areas 

The Service Manager is responsible for planning, resourcing and management of identified services across an area of responsibility.   Special emphasis should be placed on the competence and support of sales opportunities. 

 

Key responsibilities include: 

Business Growth and Development 

Manages and develops the people, service offerings and capabilities consistent with identified customer needs and product technologies. Manages resources to meet customer and sales team opportunities. Participates as an active member in specific ad hoc service related. Develops and enhances the overall relationship with customers that lead to constructive and profitable business partnerships.   Manages all customer warranties and drives solutions and corrective actions forward. Provides input into strategic plans for the continued expansion of services and capabilities within the area of responsibility.  Investigates competitor activities and conducts relevant market research that enables market competitiveness. Works closely with Business Line Managers to plan and provide training for new products. 

Financial 

Manages cost base in accordance with budget. 

Manages cost-per-foot invoicing with Customer Service Team  

Customer Service 

Ensures adequate customer response times and resource availability. 

Ensures customer satisfaction within area of primary responsibility. 

People Management and Development 

Hires, coaches, motivates, trains, evaluates and directs team members to accomplish defined goals and objectives. 

Ensures participation in the technical training program and development of required skills. 

Ensures proper on-boarding of new personnel in accordance with Company procedures. 

Manages, motivates and influences ad hoc teams as driven by business needs. 

Manages resources to deliver internal projects and customer projects on time.   

Safety and Environment 

Complies with SMC safety policies and applicable government, customer or industry regulations or requirements. 

Identifies and and reports any unsafe work habits, workplace incidents and / or near misses. 

Ensures compliance with environmental, health and safety requirements for team in area of responsibility. 

Personal Leadership 

Ensures that all activities are carried out in accordance with Company Values and current Company Policies and Procedures. 

Stays current on industry developments, competitive offerings and issues affecting sales and customers. 

Undertakes self-training and development as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

Education and Experience: 

High school diploma 

Ten years of relevant industry experience 

Competencies: 

Strong knowledge of the industry  

Problem solving and troubleshooting skills 

Strong customer service focus 

High level of responsiveness 

Strong planning and organization skills 

Detail orientation 

Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate others to achieve outcomes 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

Computer literacy
