Are you a driven candidate with solid truck service and management experience? If so, we are looking for you! We are growing rapidly and looking for an experienced Service Manager who will partner with our growing team. The role is located at our Fontana, CA location.

You understand the heavy equipment business and have a drive for being an active part of solutions. You set the bar high and set an example for other leaders and colleagues on how to work collaboratively with the highest level of integrity.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Forecasts goals and objectives for the department and strives to meet them.
• Prepares and administers an annual operating budget for the service department.
• Attends managers’ meetings as requested.
• Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect service operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA right-to-know, etc.
• Hires, trains, motivates, counsels and monitors the performance of all service department employees.
• Directs and schedules the activities of all department employees.
• Provides technical assistance to employees as needed.
• Conducts meetings with department employees to discuss activities and problems of mutual interest.
• Monitors technicians’ payroll records.
• Conducts monthly safety meetings.
• Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
• Establishes and maintains good working relationships with vocational and technical schools to enhance personnel recruitment activities.
• Serves as liaison with factory representatives.
• Greets all customers promptly and fives fair estimates on costs and time required for repairs and maintenance.
• Handles all customer complaints.
• Break down estimates into labor and parts before the job is started so that repair technicians are aware of time allowances.
• Quality-checks completed jobs.
• Keeps abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommends purchases.
• Accounts for all documents, ensuring that none are missing.
• Controls the performance of the department using such tools as daily operating control, efficiency and productivity control, comeback reports, warranty reports, telephone surveys, and monthly forecasts.
• Maintains reporting systems required by general management and the factory.
• Monitors repair order trends, such as number of repair orders completed, number of times per repair order, dollar sales per repair order, dollar sales per service advisor, etc.
• Ensures that customers’ service files are up-to-date and are readily available for reference.
• Monitors the location and care of shop tools.
• Collects account receivables for service work.
• Follows up on parts department orders to ensure parts availability. Ensures that customers’ trucks and equipment are kept clean.
• Attends factory-sponsored training classes.
• Must have a working knowledge and understanding of safety requirements and practice them.
• Must refer to MSDS when using any chemicals, substances and materials, understanding the MSDS information, and abiding by MSDS required personal protective equipment. Must require employees to wear gloves, safety glasses and other PPE for all tasks requiring their use.
• Understands and follows federal, sate and local regulations such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.
• Ensures the disposal of used oil, grease, antifreeze and filters in the assigned location to ensure EPA compliance.
• Conducts Custom Truck safety training for all Truck Service employees and follows all safety requirements.
EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Requires a minimum of five years of direct experience as a heavy-duty diesel truck mechanic, and/in addition to five years managing a service department
