Service Room Technician-Poultry
Job Description

We are looking for a diligent and attentive Service Room Technician to join our team at the hatchery facility. The Service Room Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of essential services on day-old chicks, managing egg room operations, and maintaining cleanliness and orderliness within the facility. This role requires a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and a commitment to the health and welfare of chicks in our care.

Key Responsibilities:

Day-Old Chick Services: Perform various services on day-old chicks, including proper spur prevention, debeaking, and toenail removal, adhering to the highest standards of animal welfare and operational protocols.Egg Room Work: Manage and perform tasks in the egg room, including setting up eggs for incubation, candling to assess egg viability, and ensuring the correct environment for egg storage and incubation.General Cleaning: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the service room, egg room, and related equipment to ensure a hygienic environment conducive to chick health and quality hatchery operations.Candling: Accurately perform candling to check the quality and development of embryos within the eggs, discarding any that are not viable or do not meet quality standards.Grading and Sorting: Conduct proper grading of male and female line chicks, ensuring accurate sorting according to specific criteria and standards.Record Keeping: Maintain detailed and accurate records of all tasks performed, including data on chick handling, egg incubation settings, and results of candling and grading.Team Collaboration: Work closely with other hatchery staff to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth and efficient operations throughout the service room and egg room.Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and animal welfare standards, using appropriate protective gear and handling methods to ensure both personal safety and the well-being of the chicks.

Work Experience

Experience in hatchery operations or a similar settingKnowledge of proper techniques for debeaking, toenail removing, and other chick servicesPerform delicate tasks with a high degree of accuracyStrong organizational skillsBasic understanding of record-keeping
