DEPARTMENT: Tire & Automotive Center                            DATE: 09/01/2024              

 

 

JOB TITLE: Service Truck Operator/ Technician              STATUS: Non - Exempt

 

 

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT    

Under the direction of the Location manager, operate tire service truck and provide complete tire sales and service to customers and the company.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS  

 

Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.

 

Willingness and ability to communicate with Location manager and fellow employees.

 

Ability to be accessible and on call for repairs and emergencies at the discretion of management especially during peak season.

 

General duties would include operating the service truck. When not on a service call, provide tire and automotive service at our Corp Tire location.

 

Assists with incoming telephone calls, quoting prices and credit terms, preparing work orders and basic automotive repairs.

 

Provides accurate unit numbers when doing work on company units. Required to complete purchase orders for all company work.

 

Handles all customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.

 

Responsible for contacting the customer if the vehicle inspection indicates the potential need for additional parts and/or labor.

 

Supply basic tools of the trade.

 

Attends all required meetings and training programs.

Adheres to the member company uniform policy and maintains the appropriate professional image.

REQUIREMENTS

 

 

 

   Education and experience

   

      Typically requires a 2-year college degree along with a certificate confirming completion of an auto mechanics program. Previous work experience will be taken into account. Must demonstrate a solid understanding of tires.

 

    Must possess or be able to acquire a Class C CDL driver’s license. (Operate service truck)

 

    Must be able or learn to operate tire shop and tire truck equipment, and basic    computer application.

 

 

 

  Functional Skills

     Must have strong mechanical skills

 

     Understanding and experience in operations, distribution, warehousing, inventory control, and purchasing.

 

      Team building skills and the ability to work independently and, in a team-oriented environment. 

 

   Proven professional communication and customer service skills.

 

   Demonstrated organization, planning, and problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, prioritize work, and deal with deadlines.

 

   Proven computer and “attention to detail" skills and the ability to use computer programs such as excel and word to enhance business processes.

 

 

 

 

Core Skills  

 

   Demonstrated core skills including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

 

 

Other Requirements  

 

   Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable to operate required Company vehicles.

 

   Must possess or be able to acquire a CDL driver’s license.

 

  Must be able to work hours beyond normal business hours to ensure customer    satisfaction.

 

  Ability to lift 90 pounds to height of 3 feet.
