EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred: hold a journeyman’s card and have 10 years’ experience or 15 years of experience in lie of journeyman’s card
SKILLS:
Knowledgeable and skilled in use of:
Knowledge and operate a CNC Mill MachineLathe – turning, boring, thread cutting, taper turning, tool post grinding, etc.Mills – fly cutting, boring, radius cutting, taper milling, etc.Welders – tig, mig, arc, gasSurface grinder – flat, angle, radius, special shape grinding, etc.Centerless grinders – radius and cylindersKnowledgeable in:
Metals – heat treating, able to identify different types of metal (ferrous and nonferrous), determine Rockwell hardness and other propertiesReading of blueprintsDrilling, tapping, reaming, etc.Occupational hazards and standard safety precautions necessary in workProficient in:
Math – determining angles, sine, and cosine, working knowledge of trigonometry and basic geometryUse of measuring instruments micrometers, height gages, gage blocks, sine bars, etc. Able to complete precision work (within ten thousandths of an inch)Special Qualifications:
