The General Manager leads the operations of Seven Feathers Travel Center, ensuring alignment with UIDC’s (Umpqua Indian Development Corporation) strategic objectives. This role drives financial performance, operational excellence, guest satisfaction, and team development while maintaining high standards for safety, compliance and efficiency. A key component of this role is fostering a workplace culture that prioritizes the cultivation and development of qualified Cow Creek Umpqua Tribal members, supporting their professional growth and opportunities within the organization.


Operational Management

Oversee all store operations, ensuring efficiency, profitability, and alignment with UIDC company goals.Develop and execute strategies to improve product placement, appearance, and overall store performance.Track, analyze, and act on weekly/daily sales goals, aiming to meet or exceed established targets.

Financial Oversight

Forecast, schedule, and monitor labor costs to align with productivity guidelines and budget constraints.Research suppliers, negotiate contracts, and secure cost-effective agreements to optimize store profitability.

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and tribal regulations, including health and safety standards, labor laws, and environmental policies.Maintain all necessary licenses and permits for store operations.

Guest Relations

Focus on guest satisfaction, ensuring team members deliver exceptional service through effective training and coaching.Handle guest complaints and resolve them in a manner that balances guest satisfaction with business objectives.

Team Development

Recruit, train, and manage team members, with an emphasis on identifying and nurturing talent among Cow Creek Umpqua Tribal members.Provide mentorship and developmental opportunities to Tribal members, encouraging their career progression within the organization.Create pathways for Tribal members to gain necessary skills and qualifications through on-the-job training, formal education, and external development programs.Offer honest feedback and effectively recommend hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions.Foster a positive work environment by instilling a culture of motivation, respect, and collaboration.

Marketing and Community Engagement

Develop and implement local marketing strategies to increase store traffic and sales.Actively engage with the local community to build brand awareness and foster positive relationships.

Vendor and Supplier Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of quality products.Monitor supplier performance and address any issues promptly to avoid disruptions.

Facility Maintenance and Appearance

Oversee regular maintenance and cleanliness of the facility to provide a safe and welcoming environment.Coordinate repairs and upgrades to meet operational and aesthetic standards.

Risk Management

Identify potential risks to the business and develop contingency plans to mitigate them.Enforce safety protocols to minimize accidents and liabilities.

Technology Utilization

Leverage technology and data analytics to optimize inventory management, sales forecasting, and customer service.Stay informed about industry trends and implement relevant technological advancements.



Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience considered in lieu of degree.5 years of senior management experience required (preferably in a travel center environment).Strong analytical, planning, forecasting, and budget/financial skills.Proven managerial problem solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to exercise independent judgement within established policies.Ability to articulate a vision and strategy in a way that inspires and motivates a team and focuses their energy on achieving business goals.Outstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skills.Ability to manage multiple complex priorities within demanding timeframes.Demonstrates creative, cost-effective solutions to challenges associated with an extremely fluid, rapidly changing businessAdvanced computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database software.Current and valid Driver’s License, with the ability to qualify for the UIDC’s Driver Program.
