SEWER/UPHOLSTER

Job Description

Our client is a manufacturer of mobile shower commode chairs and they are currently looking to hire for an Upholster/Sewer.

Location : Victoria Park & Railside (North York, ON)

Shift : Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm

Pay Range : $19.00 

 

As an Upholster you will be assisting on the production floor in the Upholster area. You will be required to pull vinyl onto the moulded seat in a smooth tight manner. As well, perform sewing of vinyl material for seat cover.   

Duties and Responsibilities

Attend daily shift start meetings with upholstery team to share expectations and tasks for the day Must pay attention to detail Must be able to glue and cut foam Able to work with glue, staple gun, vinyl, foam, heat gun, saw and routers Prepare and wrap standard and custom seats as directed by lead-hand  Must be physically able to pull vinyl at a pull tension of 20lbs   Must be able to pull vinyl to wrap foam and HDPE  Must be able to staple vinyl unto HDPE in a straight line  Ensure final product conforms to Raz standards Read and understand seat drawings  Maintain KANBAN stock levels for all upholstery materials Communicate material shortages to team-lead in a timely manner for re-stocking Expedite rush and late orders  Follow all ISO procedures Adhere to plant safety regulations and ensure a safe working environment Follow all Company policies and procedures  Comply with Health and Safety Policies and Procedures including PPE and COVID 19 protocols  Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

Qualifications:

High school, higher education is preferred    Able to read, write and communicate verbally in English   Read and follow drawings, bills of materials and other written instructions    Upholstery experience required but not a requirement Able to work with glue, staple gun, vinyl, foam and heat gun Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly Ability to function with and without distinct work instructions Ability to work alone and with others in a team environment Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping work stations organized. Must be dependable and reliable

Physical Requirements:

Stand for long periods of time up to 95% of an 8-hour shift Must be able to pull and lift a minimum of 50lbs Must be able to work in a dusty and noisy environment
