Responsibilities Summary This position conducts individual, group, or family therapy; documents and records inmate progress; participates in treatment planning; conducts discharge planning; assesses and evaluates the psychological and social functional of inmates. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Facilitates individual, group, or family therapy sessions for detainees. Develops individualized treatment plans for detainees and conducts developmental therapy sessions with them in accordance to treatment plans and specific methodologies and techniques. Maintains caseload including documentation of case notes, arranging individual and family sessions, planning interventions and providing therapeutic support to all assigned clients. Maintains thorough, detailed, and accurate client/family case files and records. Confers with other members of the treatment or therapy team to discuss, plan, and determine additional courses of action for continued therapy. Assists fellow team members and supervisor in program planning, office management and filing duties, group planning, program changes, and other interventions. Provides feedback, consultation, and recommendations to treatment teams regarding a detainee’s progress or lack thereof to assist in staffing recommendations. Confers with agency officials, staff members and representatives of other agencies to acquire information needed for immediate determinations or decisions. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Master’s degree in clinical psychology, psychiatric nursing, (psychiatric) social work, behavioral science, activities therapy or a closely related field of preparation for direct treatment of inmates with psychological problems, and two (2) years of practice experience working with sex offenders population. State licensing as a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Must be able to perform therapeutic interaction with inmates who have serious psychological problems. Must be able to perform psychological evaluation and assessment. Must posses a dynamic personality that is flexible enough to evolve with each detainee through the entire therapeutic process. Must be able to actively listen to the detainees and pay specific attention to non verbal or convert forms of communications. Must posses coping skills (empathic, nurturing, compassionate, etc.).
