Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) PER Diem RN - St Peters Health Partners

Here at St. Peter's Health Partners, we care for more people in more places. **Position Highlights:** + **Quality of Life:** Where career opportunities and quality of life converge + **Advancement:** Strong orientation program, generous tuition allowance and career development **What you will do:** Provide on-call response to victims of crime throughout St Peter’s Health Partners Emergency Departments and inpatient units as needed (Samaritan Hospital, Albany Memorial, and St. Peter’s Hospital). The Forensic Nurse Examiner is SANE trained and required to take both the adult/adolescent and pediatric SANE training courses. Examiners are educated, trained, and knowledgeable in the care of those who report: + Sexual assault + Domestic violence + Physical assault + Human trafficking + Child abuse + Elder abuse + Neglect/mistreatment + Workplace violence **Responsibilities:** + Provide a minimum of 48 hours of on-call time per month (12-hour shifts) + One 12-hour holiday shift on-call per year + Arrive to all 3 facilities within 60 minutes of a page when on-call + Completes both adult/adolescent SANE training and pediatric SANE training classes + Nurses without prior adult/adolescent SANE certification may take the course offered through SPHP FNE program + Options for pediatric SANE training vary, will discuss at interview + Provide forensic examination and evidence collection as needed + Testify if subpoenaed + Communicate with multidisciplinary response team + Provides 1:1 individualized care adhering to strict confidentiality + Functions as a mandated reporter + Communicates with Law enforcement if patient desires/ situation necessitates. Nurses commit to a minimum of 48, 72 or 96+ hours of on-call time per month, consisting of of 12-hour shifts. The program provides the flexibility and autonomy of self-scheduling. SANE certificates of completion required for start. Examiners are paid an on-call hourly rate and a flat rate per patient seen (ranging from $250-$625 per patient. Based on a tiered structure which increases with higher monthly hour commitments). The RNII hourly pay rate is not used when called in seeing a patient; the identified rate is used in specific instances including but not limited to: Healthstream trainings, in-services, staff meetings, trial prep/testifying, etc. **What you will need:** + Current RN License in State of New York + Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a RN (bedside ACUTE 1yr exp importantly preferred) + BLS + Critical thinking skills + Communication/bedside manner skills + Good assessment skills + Documentation skills + Open to constructive criticism + Ability to work independently and collaboratively + Prior SANE/FNE experience a plus + Preference for those with night shift availability **Pay Range:** $36.50 - $49.95 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
