Shared Living Provider
Cape Abilities is looking for compassionate and caring people who have personal or work experience with developmental disabilities or mental health support to open your home to an adult with developmental disabilities. Shared living is an alternative to a 24-hour group home for adults receiving services through the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS). Shared Living providers welcome an individual into their stable and caring home environment while providing an appropriate level of care and receiving an income to do so. Providers are often single parents, retirees, widows/widowers; a Provider’s home come in all configurations, single parents, couples, and young families with children all have a place in the Shared Living world. Anyone with a room in their home and the dedication to share their life with others in need. An individual supported through Shared Living often becomes a permanent addition to a loving family. In other cases, the provider may serve as a roommate and role model who helps an individual learn to achieve the goals necessary for independent living. Providers receive a stipend based on the individual needs of the person supported. Providers are paid monthly by Cape Abilities but are not employees of the Agency.
