SharePoint Migration Intern

Project Description

We are looking for a business intern to join our Regulatory department, located in the Xcel Energy building at 790 S Buchanan St in Amarillo, TX.

As a SharePoint Migration Intern, you will play a crucial role in the transition of our department’s SharePoint infrastructure to the latest version.

This project involves a comprehensive process of moving data, applications, and services from an existing SharePoint environment to a more current and feature-rich platform

The ideal candidate will be able to assist with the development of regulatory projects and execution of regulatory case filings before the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission and the Public Utilities Commission of Texas.  Example of regulatory projects include rate cases, certificates of need, investigations, compliance filings, and tariff and pricing proposals. 

An intern in this position will learn how to apply project management principles to regulatory case management as well as how to navigate the development of regulatory initiatives in the dynamic policy environment of a regulated industry. 

The candidate can expect to coordinate with other members of Xcel Energy’s regulatory department as well as colleagues in operations, legal, resource planning, accounting, finance, treasury, business development and other areas of one of the nation’s largest utility companies.

This will be a yearlong opportunity (start date of January 2025) with the potential to extend into a school semester. The candidate should be able to work full-time during the summer.  If the intern works during the school year, their hours should be part-time.

Minimum Requirements

Enrolled in programs such as supply chain, advertising, marketing, safety and health, management, human resources, training, labor relations, public relations, government relations, business administration, legal and regulatory compliance and similar.

Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) as well as hybrid collaboration applications is essential.

SharePoint Proficiency: Understanding of SharePoint architecture, features, and administration.

Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with migration tools like SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT) and methodologies.

Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze and map the current SharePoint environment to the new version effectively.

Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to address any issues that arise during the migration process.

Preferred Requirements

Mastery of SharePoint or Super User Accreditation.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $19.00 to $23.90 per hour

This position is eligible for the following benefits: Pension, 401(k) plan, Paid time off (PTO), Holidays
