Position Summary:
\r\nThe Shavings Driver uses a diesel powered tractor trailer combination to transport and deliver wood shavings to turkey farms.
\r\n\r\nEssential Duties, Functions and responsibilities:
\r\nConducts pre and post trip inspections to determine the trucks condition and ensure that everything is in proper running order.
\r\nDelivers shavings to turkey farms daily in a safe and efficient manner.
\r\nBacks tractor trailer into turkey farm and loading areas.
\r\nAssists other workers in the department by helping load and unload trucks.
\r\nResolves problems on turkey farms when supervision is not available by using common sense to handle situations. Adjust to errors and complaints.
\r\nFollows instructions and company polices.
\r\nMust maintain a good driving record.
\r\nPerforms other duties as assigned.
\r\n\r\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
\r\nMust have a valid North Carolina Class A CDL and Department of Transportation Certified Medical Certificate.
\r\nAbility to read and understand documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
\r\nAbility to prepare routine reports and correspondence.
\r\nAbility to make decisions on backing, turning, entering and exiting farms.
\r\nAbility to operate trucks on narrow, dimly-lighted roads.
\r\n\r\nPhysical Requirements:
\r\nRegularly required to sit.
\r\nGrip, grasp or twist using hands and wrists
\r\nOccasionally lift, carry, push, and/or pull 50lbs or more.
\r\nUse of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
\r\nReach with hands and arms.
\r\nClimbs and/or balances oneself.
\r\nOccasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
\r\n\r\nWorking Conditions/Department Description:
\r\nRegularly driving, and working inside a vehicle.
\r\nExposure to outdoor/seasonal conditions including
\r\nWorking in very hot temperatures
\r\nWorking in cool/cold temperatures
\r\nWorking in a dry and/or dusty environment
\r\nWorking in a loud/noisy environment
\r\nExposure to vibrations.
