**Job Title: Sheet Metal Installer at Seaspan** **Job Description** Our company primarily provides scaffolding services and mechanical insulation. They hold a large contract with Seaspan to handle all mechanical and wall insulation inside ships. Current projects include the JSS (Joint Support Ship) combat vessel and the Offshore Oceanographic Science Vessel projects. **JOB DUTIES:** - Apply, remove, and repair thermal and acoustical insulation (e.g., calcium silicate, glass foam, mineral wool, fiberglass, armflex) on various industrial equipment (e.g., duct piping, heat exchangers, tanks, vessels). - Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine insulation requirements. - Select the amount and type of insulation to be installed and the method of securing the insulation (e.g., pin welding, wiring, banding, taping) according to the equipment's type, shape, and usage. - Measure and cut insulating material and coverings to required shapes and dimensions, fitting insulation around obstructions or shaping insulation materials and protective coverings. - Install vapor barriers and finish insulated surfaces by applying metal cladding, canvas, PVC, or cement. **Hard Skills** + 1+ year of sheet metal experience + Able to operate hand and power tools + Able to meet security requirements (PR or citizen) + Able to read, write, and speak English effectively + CSTS certification **Benefits** + Medical, dental & vision + Insurance (Basic/Supplemental Life & AD&D) + Short and long-term disability + Employee Assistance Program + Time off/Leave (PTO, Vacation, or Sick Leave) + Union benefits and package after probationary period of 520 hours. **Work Site** This is a fully on-site position in North Vancouver, British Columbia. **Work Environment** Seaspan shipyards in North Vancouver. Parking available on site but fills up quickly. The team consists of 36 employees, reporting to a Site Superintendent along with one other superintendent and five foremen. Currently working on three ships.
