Since 1977, Sojourner Center has been a safe haven from domestic violence for women and their children in Arizona. Since our founding, we have transformed lives by providing shelter and support services to more than 60,000 adults and children affected by domestic violence. We provide a broad spectrum of services to victims of domestic violence, while working with professionals in the field on education, research and advocacy with the goal of ending domestic violence.

 

Job Summary: The primary focus of the Shelter Services Case Manager is to provide classes/groups related to job training, GED prep, and life skills and domestic and sexual violence dynamics. In addition, provides one-on-one sessions with participants in the workforce development program.

 

Four Day Schedule: Wednesday-Saturday, 8:00am-7:00pm

 

Rate of Pay: $21.00/hour after bilingual assessment (Spanish-English)

Responsibilities Recognizes and effectively responds to impacts of domestic violence and other trauma utilizing appropriate assessments and evidence-based practices.Maintain appropriate class/ participant records including participant goals, attendance records, files, lesson plans.Facilities classes’ onsite related to job readiness/training and domestic and sexual violence dynamics.Maintains a classroom/group environment that is conducive of learning.Provides resources and referrals, specializing in transportation, employment, and education.Maintains and promotes the groups calendar and group documenting.Builds community partnerships for collaboration of employment and education opportunities. Organizes and participates in job fairs, resource fairs, and other program events as needed. Attends and assists community outreach events as needed.Supports participants to become work-ready by identifying barriers and offering resources/solutions.Engages participants in the collaborative process of identifying, planning, accessing, and advocating for resources, supports, and services to address the impacts of trauma experienced.Forms relationships with staff and participants, maintaining professional boundaries, while strengthening the developmental problem-solving and coping capacities of participants.Utilizing a strengths-based approach and working collaboratively as a team, links participants with systems that provide supportive resources, services, and opportunities.Provides support within the scope of the cultures of the individuals and families served, which may include coordination and collaboration with other Sojourner Center programs.Identifies, adapts, and responds to crisis events, applying crisis intervention and prevention techniques, and implementing culturally competent practices.Participates in the care and maintenance of the campus and equipment; may provide room checks and prepare/clean/pack rooms.Provides clear, concise, and consistent documentation in accordance with established guidelines and aligned with Quality Assurance policies and procedures. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one (1) year of related experience; or degree in an unrelated field plus two (2) years of related experience; or a High School Diploma plus three (3) years of experience in a related field.Prefer experience in family violence programs and vocational programing.Proficiency in diagnosing, assessing and evaluating the strengths, functional levels and readiness for participants to pass the GED exam and become college and career-ready.Ability to obtain a Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card, CPR and First Aid certification.Valid Arizona Driver License, proof of automobile insurance and Motor Vehicle Record acceptable to Sojourner Center’s insurance company.Provide Transportation on as needed bases.Bilingual Spanish-English preferred (pay differential offered)

Physical Factors/Working Conditions:

Stands, walks, and sits continuously throughout the day.Reaches, stoops, bends, lifts, carries and manipulates up to 25 pounds.Utilizes computer to access Intranet/Internet and enter information into prepared forms.Some travel between work locations or in the community may be required.Has the potential to be exposed to infectious diseases and must use Universal Precautions.Required to spend time outside daily regardless of weather conditions.Has a risk of physical danger due to the nature of the population served.
