What’s the Job?
The Shift Supervisor supports the management team and reports to the Operations Manager. The successful candidate leads and drives the manufacturing initiatives of leads, operators, and other production personnel to support the manufacturing improvement process and production control systems. The essential activities include, but are not limited to, safety performance, quality, training, continuous improvement, and productivity.
The Shift Supervisor must have strong leadership skills and be able to coach, train, and help drive accountability. Through leadership of cross-functional teams, the Shift Supervisor will prioritize team workload and drive continuous improvement in our training and certification. They will ensure compliance to all the highest standards related to safety, health, environmental, company, federal, and state regulations and laws.
This position must assure good housekeeping practices following 5S systems, enforce plant rules and safety regulations as well as all company polices including but not limited to all PPE, permits, JSAs, purchasing requirements and follow all safe work practices.
Directly supervise an hourly workforce of employees in compliance with all applicable laws and policies, communicate performance expectations, hold employees accountable to those expectations, and coach and develop employee capabilities. Identify opportunities and implement corrective actions to improve safety, quality, productivity, labor and spending performance, through development of teams, tracking performance, data interpretation and other problem-solving tools. Fill in required job information in IN4.0RM. Complete daily production and material usage reports. Update and maintain time and attendance and payroll data and administer coaching, training, group expectations or discipline as needed. Ensures employees have received appropriate safety training and conform to all safety policies, rules and regulations, challenging behavior as it relates to working unsafely. Ensures all quality specifications are met and maintained. Address production-related issues promptly to minimize downtime and disruptions. Investigate and analyze root causes of production problems and assist in implementing corrective actions. Proactively challenge the performance of current systems and processes; identifies risks and help develop solutions and/or processes and ensures necessary for risk mitigation steps. May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.Work Schedule: Shift Managers work a 2-2-3 schedule including weekend shifts. Shifts are 12-hours from 7:30 AM – 7:30 PM or 7:30 PM to 7:30 AM alternating between days and nights every 28 days.
