The Shift Supervisor is accountable for the clinical and operational oversight of his/her assigned shift.  This includes providing crisis intervention services, modeling practices that promote the community-based, customer service focused mission, training and supervising program staff.

Minimum Education Required Master's Degree Shift First Shift Responsibilities Provide psychiatric and substance abuse evaluation of individuals and families in crisis in community, clinic and hospital settingsProvide initial crisis intervention services to individuals in need, along with crisis case management and short-term crisis counseling as follow-up from initial intervention, when appropriate.Provide oversight of all clinical and operational aspects during an assigned shift by guiding triaging decisions that emphasize mobile interventions, ensure follow up is coordinated from previous shifts, coordinate training of new clinicians, and assign administrative tasks as necessary.Maximize staffing patterns by focusing on developing, cross-training and retaining talented staff. Maintain linkages with specific community agencies by providing documented case consultation and problem resolution.Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of managed care and health insurance systems; provide other clinicians with managed care information and resources pertinent to the crises being managed.Provide information on treatment and referral services as required.Provide mental health and substance abuse triage as required.Provide clinical and administrative supervision of all staff during a shift, including training new clinicians.Maintain necessary documentation and records in accordance with program requirements.Provide supervision to a case load of clinicians, including ongoing training and guidance to staff.Must provide Administrative On-call coverage by phone on nights and weekends to provide consultation and problem solving assistance as required. Demonstrate a proactive commitment to maintaining effective communication with staff and customers to facilitate and promote effective working relationships and customer service. Ensure that clinical services are being delivered in accordance with Advocates clinical philosophy and all licensing and regulatory bodies in coordination with PES Leadership and QM Teams.  Seek and create opportunities to collaborate across divisions.Assist staff in prioritizing client-centered, transparent interventions that aim to be responsive to the needs of the whole person.Emphasize crisis interventions that are community based with creative approaches to offer individuals the least restrictive level of care.Ensure all paperwork, reports, trainings are up to date and completed within the Divisions expected timelines. Qualifications Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling Education, Counseling Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling or a related counseling field.Licensure strongly preferred or actively working toward licensure. At least two years of experience with target population (inpatient, outpatient, residential acceptable).Must hold a valid driver's license and access to an operational and insured vehicle.Strongly prefer a candidate that will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.Must have working knowledge of current version of the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
