About Our Haverhill Facility:

Our Haverhill facility takes 1,650 tons of municipal solid waste daily and turns it into a powerful force for good. Through the National Grid, we generate up to 49 megawatts of clean, renewable energy that powers homes and businesses. Our state-of-the-art technology, including North America's largest high-pressure combustion units, ensures efficient waste processing and responsible metal recycling.

About The Role:

Our Shift Supervisors make a real difference. During your assigned shift, you'll be responsible for our Haverhill facility's safe and efficient operation. You'll oversee a team of personnel, ensuring they follow safety protocols and procedures while maximizing operational performance. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to environmental responsibility. Please Note: We also require our Shift Supervisors to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule that alternates between days and nights, along with the ability to work overtime.

Position Description:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the facility during an assigned shift, including the monitoring of boilers, turbines, and the steam plant. The Shift Supervisor will routinely tour the plant and oversee the work of various personnel while operating within all safety regulations, environmental limits, and permits. In emergencies or unusual operations, the Shift Supervisor will, if necessary, direct or personally perform the required operations and coordinate the activities of all personnel involved.

Duties & Responsibilities Include:

● Ensure a safe and efficient work environment, including enforcing safety protocols and permits.

● Lead and train a skilled and motivated team.

● Oversee plant operations, maximizing performance and troubleshooting issues.

● Coordinate maintenance activities and manage administrative tasks.

● Respond to emergencies and ensure environmental compliance.

Position Requirements:

● Shift Supervisors are required to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule that alternates between days and nights.

● Ability to work overtime.

● Qualified candidates must have three years or more of supervisory experience in power or resource recovery plant operations.

● While an engineering degree is desirable, hands-on experience with high-pressure boilers and electrical generation and formal technical training is required.

● Must obtain & maintain an ASME QRO Provisional license and the ability to obtain a Site Specific Operators license.

● Candidates with a Massachusetts Second Class Engineer’s License are preferred.

Critical Skills & Abilities:

● Detailed knowledge of the operation of steam-generating power stations and instrument and control systems. Ability to originate and monitor plant procedures and technical instructions.

● Well-developed skills in troubleshooting equipment and systems, training personnel, and interpreting logic diagrams.

● Good communication, strong leadership, and problem-solving/decision-making skills are necessary.

● Must obtain and maintain an ASME QRO shift supervisor’s license.
