Career opportunity:
Oversee the processes and baling of incoming recycling materials so that outbound recycling materials are acceptable for sale to various brokers or mills. Assign and oversee execution of production, safety, and housekeeping duties. Active participation in and encourage employee involvement in the Health and Safety Programs of Smurfit Westrock
How you will impact WestRock:
Supervise production operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures for the plant.Train and coach operators. Conduct employee performance counseling. Responsible for shift schedule to include: workstation assignments, rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and temporary labor.Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers. Coordinate with Operations Manager for appropriate staffing levels. Schedule and conduct shift meetings. Responsible for meeting shift production goals. Responsible for quality control. Make adjustments as necessary during shift to produce product within specifications. Reject product outside of specifications. Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs).Communicate with other Shift Supervisors and Operations Manager. Ensure a clean and safe work area. Complete shift paperwork. Assist in production as necessary. Authorization Training in the following: Lock out Tag out, Machine Guarding, Confined Space, Aerial, Loader, Bobcat, Forklift, and balers. (Will be trained in house)Maintain and aid to plant’s preventative maintenance program.Other duties as assigned.What you need to succeed:
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of the recycling processes, procedures, and machinery. This is normally acquired through two to five years of manufacturing experience. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.Working conditions include a non-climate controlled environment. Communication with diverse staff. Work involves lifting materials and product up to 45 pounds.Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.
