Job Description Faststream is currently seeking an Vessel Operations Coordinator to join a global shipping company at their vibrant hub office in Barcelona.
Role Overview:
Location: Barcelona, Spain
Focus: Supporting line operations to optimise vessel performance, enhance cost efficiency, and ensure compliance with operational standards.
Key Responsibilities: Vessel Operations: Assist in vessel stowage planning to maximise capacity while maintaining safety and operational efficiency. Performance Monitoring: Track vessel consumption, identify inefficiencies, and recommend corrective actions to optimise performance. Cargo Approval: Screen requests for special cargo types (e.g., DG, OOG, Breakbulk) to ensure adherence to company policies. Port Operations: Oversee tug usage and approve terminal/port costs (D/As) for all managed vessels. Coordination: Liaise with captains, chief officers, agents, and internal teams to ensure seamless operations. Documentation: Execute voyage instructions for newly chartered vessels and ensure operational compliance throughout the charter.
Skills & Competencies:
Diploma or degree in Maritime Studies or equivalent. Minimum 1 year of shipping operations experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong verbal and written English communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and planning skills, with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
