**Job Title: Shipfitter** **Job Description** We are currently seeking an experienced shipfitter to join our team. The shipfitter will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing structural components and systems on ships and marine vessels. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of shipbuilding principles, be proficient in reading blueprints and technical drawings, and possess excellent welding and metalworking skills. POSITION SUMMARY: Prep, layout, fit, finish, and repair complex fabrications to work packages per product specifications and production schedule under the guidance of the shop superintendent. The fit test evaluation consists of: cutting a 13” circle out of an 18”/8” plate, beveling the circle at 22 ½ degrees, fitting the circle back into the plate flush with ¼” root opening, and strong back it to the back side so that it is ready for weld. The finished product is typically graded using a pass/fail result on its acceptability that same day. Candidates should bring their own tools. At a minimum, suggested tools include: - Tape Measure - Square - Centerpunch - Hammer - Striker - Grinder (we can provide the wheels; candidates just need the tool itself) **Hard Skills** + Cutting + Fitting + Measurements + Blueprints + Oxyacetylene Torches **Soft Skills** + Attention to detail + Problem-solving + Teamwork **Job Type** This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s). **Work Site** This is a fully on-site position in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. **Work Environment** Large, loud manufacturing environment. Currently working four 10-hour days with an 8-hour mandatory shift on Friday until production catches up. 1st and 2nd shift openings available. 10% differential for working 2nd shift.
