**Job Title: Shipfitter** **Job Description** As a Shipfitter, you will lay out and fabricate metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames, and brace them in position within the hull of a ship for riveting or welding. You will work from blueprints or templates, using scribe and hand tools to mark reference lines and position parts in the hull. This role requires aligning parts using jacks, turnbuckles, clips, wedges, and mauls, marking holes for drilling, and installing temporary fasteners for welding or riveting. Additionally, you will install packing, gaskets, liners, and structural accessories and members, such as doors, hatches, brackets, and clips. You may also prepare molds and templates for nonstandard parts and tack weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding. The job includes rolling, bending, flanging, cutting, and shaping plates, beams, and other heavy metal parts. **Responsibilities** + Lay out and fabricate metal structural parts for ships. + Work from blueprints or templates using scribe and hand tools. + Mark reference lines on metal parts. + Position parts in the hull of the ship. + Align parts using jacks, turnbuckles, clips, wedges, and mauls. + Mark locations for drilling holes and install temporary fasteners. + Install packing, gaskets, liners, and structural accessories. + Prepare molds and templates for nonstandard parts. + Tack weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding. + Roll, bend, flange, cut, and shape heavy metal parts. **Essential Skills** + Minimum of 3 years experience as a shipfitter. + Ability to read blueprints. + Experience with hand tools and fabrication equipment. + Skill in aligning and positioning metal parts. + Proficiency in tack welding. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
