LOCATION: STORY CITY, IA SUMMARY:Provide leadership in the Shipping department and serve as a positive role model to material handlers in all aspects of the shipping process – safety, productivity, efficiency, etc. This position reports to the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor or Manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned. + Oversee and coordinate daily warehouse activities. + Ensure the accuracy of shipments and inventory. + Monitoring work performance of staff. + Liaison with supply chain and carriers / customers. + Coordinate with other departments to ensure production is supplied. + Train new employees who start with the company. + Conduct inventory counts to ensure accurate inventory. + Daily walk throughs of the warehouses, inspection of the warehouse ground. + Evaluate and report on warehouse productivity. + Tracking and coordinating the receipt, storage, and timely delivery of goods and materials. + Ensure FIFO of inventory is being conducted and administered + Other duties as assigned. A./B.S.) or equivalent from two-year college/four-year college or technical school; with one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
