Responsible to lead and perform the daily operations of Shipping and Receiving functions to receipt and distribution of all inbound, and outbound, materials, and timely update logistic information into registration systems.Job Description
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Follow the DOT and IATA guidelines to process, and handle all domestic, and international, shipments of Hazardous / Non – Hazardous goods, R&D samples, capital equipment and other materials.Follow Vertex policies, guidelines, and SOP’s to process daily works and maintain work related documents as required.Coordinate with other departments, such as Supply Chain, Purchasing & Accounting, to resolve issues in receipts and clear discrepancies in invoices.Transport materials in company vehicles to different Vertex sites and make required deliveries.Timely finish all required trainings and prepare to accurately answer questions from internal or external auditors.Provide support to our CROs, establish connections with vendors, couriers, and Vertex key stakeholders. Meet with Vertex key stakeholders and vendors to help on project planning and identifying cost saving opportunities.Work with the Customs/FDA to declare imports and exports of pharmaceutical R&D/GMP samples and lab equipment.Maintain and manage Vertex vehicle lease contracts, services, and registrationsBecome part of the Vertex Emergency Response Team and VMC Safety Committee at Vertex Docks when the time comes.Lead will order logistics supplies and other related items for the Shipping and Receiving Team.Lead has administrative accesses to update and maintain Vertex Logistics vNet page, Vertex FedEx accounts and other necessary systems for routine processes.Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipmentUtilizes various technologies including but not limited to computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), FedEx, UPS, Outlook email, and Iphone for the purpose of processing shipping/receiving ordersDetermine method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and ratesAffix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, using stenciling equipmentAssemble wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers, packages items into containers using appropriate packing materialsAffix identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containersPost weights and shipping charges, and affix postageUnpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortagesExamine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specificationsMaintain inventory and tracking of shipping materials and suppliesMay use hand truck and dolley to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work areaMay require lifting and/or moving objects in excess of 50 pounds and pushing up to 100 poundsOther duties as assignedMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Shipping and Receiving work by its nature requires physical abilities to include lifting up to 50 lbs regularly. Full dexterity is required including bending, kneeling, twisting, fine motor skills with hands and fingers, full rotation of the head and neck. Ability to see, hear and be alert while operating equipment. Ability to operate lift equipment and perform work safely utilizing extension and step ladders
