Carlisle Construction Materials (CCM), has an exciting opportunity for a Shipping Clerk to join their team in Carlisle, PA. The Shipping Clerk's primary function is to greet drivers at the shipping window as they arrive. Check them in, assign to a door and organize paperwork for warehouse personnel to load or unload. Answer phone calls and assist Order Management Specialists with information when requested. Individual must be able to be continuously interrupted, prioritize tasks, and react to customer or material handler needs.
Duties and Responsibilities: (Include but are not limited to)
Truckload Shipment Processing
Process all truck load and customer pick up by ensuring deliveries are posted and documents are created, (packing list, BOL, customs invoice). Assemble these documents and ensure paperwork is correct. Run daily SAP reports to monitor shipment and delivery completions. Monitor the office window and direct drivers to the correct location for loading or unloading. (answer phone calls to collect driver information and give drivers direction) be able to understand and communicate when there is a language barrier. Assist Customer Service with all requests. Inform Customer Service of changes to shipments (backorders, truck full etc.). Supply rate quotes for CSR (Carlisle, Private Label and CCW). Back up for processing FedEx and UPS outbound shipments Run delivery due list for customer pick up’s, small parcels, LTL’s. Create shipments in SAP. Distribute work assignments to warehouse personnel. Contact jockey to have spotted trailers put in for loading and unloading. Prepare and distribute shipping documents to drivers. Schedule appointments for inbound freight with carriers. Track LTL and parcel shipments as requested by OMS. Provide POD for inbound and outbound shipments as requested. Investigate requests for detention when needed. Enter purchase requisition for supplies.Customer Service Follow-up
Trace shipments as needed. Re-consign shipments. Provide administrators with up-to-date shipment information, pro numbers, and trailer number if needed. Secure proof of delivery when there is a dispute over shortage, damage, or delay. Provide Rate/Volume quotes. Notify customer service of backorders and/or changes to shipments. Additions, changes and deletions on allocated shipping orders are performed routinely.LTL Shipment Processing
Request and print various shipping documents for LTL’s. Use Delivery Due List to print LTL pick lists daily. Prepare the shipping documents (shipping order, shipping labels, packing list and bill of lading) for distribution to material handlers. Rate LTL’s using websites when needed. Enter charges, dunnage, and pro numbers on LTL shipments when needed. Run delivery due list for LTL shipments to get orders ready for the next shipping day. Utilize LTL carrier websites to verify all rates from the day before are accurate.Inventory Control
Report any posting issues/inventory problems to Inventory Control to correct. Assist warehouse personnel with inventory questions. Check and post all adhesive plant and inter-plant transfers.
Inbound Scheduling
Assign appointment times for inbound loads. Inform Inventory Control when delivery appointments are later then delivery date. Monitor carriers that fail to schedule appointments. Update Inventory Control of any unloaded inbound transfers.Miscellaneous Duties
Keep the digital camera charged and operational. Process pictures from shipping containers and place them in the appropriate shipment. Order printer cartridges or office supplies when needed. Print needed documents for office use. (i.e. Customs cover sheet, digital photo sheet) Create purchase requisitions to order supplies used by or for the drivers (placards plastic sleeves, packing slip envelopes, seals) Assemble repair kits as requested. Work Environment:
95% of time is spent in warehouse office environment. Remaining time spent in warehouse environment that is fast-paced. Individual must be able to be continuously interrupted, prioritize and react to customer or material handler needs. Materials and orders delivered to various shipping areas required movement on dock where temperatures range from below freezing to 90°+.
Time Worked:
Hours Worked - 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Days of Week Worked - Monday through Friday
