Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum two years of inventory control, shipping, and traffic experience. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience preferably in a lean manufacturing environment with automated MRP-type systems. Training on MRP-type systems and PC-based software programs is highly desirable.

Our state-of-the-art investment casting facility in La Porte, Indiana is seeking a Shipping Coordinator to join our team. Nestled halfway between South Bend and Chicago, along the shores of Lake Michigan - our facility in La Porte, Indiana supplies jet engine components to some of the most trusted names in the Aerospace industry. 


The Shipping Coordinator coordinates the efficient operation of the shipping and outsource groups to ensure we are manufacturing the correct number of products at the correct times to achieve the monthly financial goals. Coordinates the efficient shipment of available inventory and the preparation of necessary documentation for the movement and shipment of finished goods. Recommends and coordinates implementation of improvements as needed. Facilitates the efficient shipment and receipts of the outsourced materials and optimizes and prioritizes for operations the manufacturing order of products between marking and shipment.

Reviews customer demand requirements and compares orders and available inventories while allocating products among customers based on customer schedules. Coordinates the actions of various departments including Planning, Sales, and Quality to eliminate issues preventing shipments. Prioritizes and monitors inventory on products inbound to finished goods and prioritizes available inventory to satisfy the current shipment plan. Reviews system data and external supply chain inventory to support and prioritize the marking, inspection, packaging, and shipping processes. Escalates in the moment to aid in solution generation when an issue occurs between marking and shipping which jeopardizes the daily ship plan. Ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with established safety and environmental standards. Maintains full compliance and conducts all activities in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Performs other duties as required.

Responsibilities

Ensures that products are shipped in accordance with customer requirements and available inventory and prepares necessary documentation for movement and shipment of finished goods and for billing customers. Recommends and coordinates implementation of improvements as needed. Generates bills of lading and release outbound documents to decrement inventory records and create invoices. Reviews hot sheets, consults with Sales and determines appropriate method to ship product, consults Sales on credit hold customers  Ensures Quality receives paperwork to prepare shipments Manages the efficient flow of paperwork in the shipping office in support of the Ship Tech functions Certified TSA screener Ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with established safety and environmental standards. Maintains full compliance and conducts all activities in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Performs other duties as required.
 

Skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate with personnel at all organizational levels. Good organizational ability to plan and implement work and to follow-up on action items. Ability to proactively analyze situations and to initiate action to solve problems. Knowledge of mainframe and PC-based production and inventory control and materials management software in both MRP and pull system environments.
