Job Description
Summary
The Shipping Manager is responsible for managing routine shipping and distribution operations on a day-to-day basis. Also responsible for the outgoing shipments, completing the orders that are being shipped and ensuring delivery in a timely manner.
This position requires a detailed knowledge about shipping processes. Must be well-organized, analytical, and excellent verbal and written communication. In addition, the role requires someone who is comfortable with information systems, shipment documentation and an understanding of shipping and receiving policies and procedures.
Position Responsibilities
Use software to check, track, route and prioritize orders
Ensure shipping team is trained and certified to ship hazmat in accordance with DOT regulations
Well versed in international shipping procedures, export law, incoterms, and customs filings
Supports internal and external audits on shipping documentation and practices to ensure compliance with government regulations and best practice standards
Plans and maintains supply levels in order to keep up with urgent, dynamic shipment demands
Ensures customer deliveries are packaged, labeled and processed in accordance with contractual requirements
Support all company shipment needs, including trade shows, demos, RMAs, and inter-office equipment transfers
Engages with carriers and freight vendors to keep robust portfolio of reliable partners to move materials
Manage all the crucial documents such as bills of lading, pick slips, shipping notices etc.
Direct the flow of shipments from packaging to shipment
Oversee and lead the subordinate staff
Work as a team player in purchasing, warehouse, and other managers to optimize different processes
Resolve issues related to the shipped orders
Ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations
Report to higher management on issues and other risky activities
Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
BA/BSc in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field
Candidates having High School Diploma or GED with desired experience can also be considered
7 years of direct experience in field of Operations, Supply Chain or related
3 years of experience as a Shipping Manager, Materials Manager, Project Manager or similar role
Extensive know-how of logistics operations
Experience in preparing shipping documents and EDI
Experience in directing, as well as, evaluating subordinates
Computer savvy with good understanding of reporting and budgeting
Outstanding communication and organizational skills
Attention to detail and amazing problem-solving skills

Physical Demands
Ability to work in a warehouse environment (Constant)
Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)
Special Requirements
U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) or asylee/refugee status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) required.
Occasionally may be required to travel within the Continental U.S.
The salary range for this role is:
$78,986 - $112,035AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
ITAR Requirement:
This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”).
