Shipping & Receiving Associate

Job Summary

Responsible for handling shipping and receiving activities in the manufacturing plant, including preparing all necessary paperwork such as customs documents and operating material handling equipment to fulfill orders and receive shipped orders.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

Reviews shipping orders. Locates product in warehouse.

Loads/unloads material onto or from pallets, trays, racks and shelves by hand.

Prepares inventory for shipment. Properly bands and shrink wraps pallets, and attaches shipping labels.

Processes shipping orders using computerized shipping system.

Loads and unloads trucks.

Maintains warehouse inventory on racks in a neat and orderly manner.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Nature and Scope

Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction. Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor. Deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor.

Under close supervision, exercises limited latitude/independent judgment. Work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior coworker and/or supervisor.

Work Environment

Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors, such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.

Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking and/or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).

No travel required.

Education and Experience

HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. 0-2 years of experience in area of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of products manufactured or warehoused at that plant.  Ability to use the required personal protective equipment at all times.

Pay Range

$20.00-$26.50 Hourly
