Shipping/Receiving Clerk

The Shipping/Receiving Clerk performs clerical and physical tasks in connection with shipping goods of the installation in which employed and receiving incoming shipments. This position may direct and coordinate the activities of other workers or agents engaged in handling goods to be shipped or being received. Shipping/Receiving Clerks work under direct supervision of a Lead/Supervisor. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES: + Process Tl’s, LTL’s, air clearances and small package shipments utilizing CMOS, ETA and TGET. + Verifies TAC codes by comparing the FVUA document as required + Contacts Commercial carriers either by telephone (most used) or email to begin their selection process for low cost service providers (TSPs) + Verify DD form 1149 / 1348’s are accurately completed prior to ordering and arrival of commercial trucks. + Verifies that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against documents. + Ensures that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles. + Prepares and keeps records of goods shipped, e.g., manifests, bills of lading. + Verifies the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records. + Checks for damaged goods; ensuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the installation. + Other duties may be assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives. + Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements WORKING ENVIRONMENT: + Office and outside work as required by mission. Nights, Weekend, Overtime and travel may be required by mission requirements. + May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as, Face Mask, Safety vest, hand, eye, foot and head wear. + Exposure to weather conditions such as rain, wind, hot, cold and wet conditions. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: + Duties require walking, lifting, and standing for long periods of time. + Must be able to lift 50 lbs with no assistance. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS: + High School Diploma or equivalent. + Must have a valid State Driver’s License with no restrictions. + Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC). + Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, such as a birth certificate or a U.S. Passport. + Must be able to maintain driving privileges aboard the Fort Liberty Installation. EXPERIENCE: + Experience with forklifts, pallet jacks and other handling equipment. + Specific contractual requirements regarding education and experience prevail where applicable.
