Next-generation solutions for the U.S. Armed Forces Job Summary: The Shipping & Receiving Clerk coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keepings records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment by performing the following duties. Essential Functions: + Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, production orders and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules. + Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments. + Determines space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lays out position of shipment. + Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states. + Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded truck doors. + Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas. + Resolves receiving discrepancies from suppliers. + Coordinates all outgoing shipments with respective dock times. + Schedules pick-up times with customer logistics department. + Posts weight and shipping charges. + Coordinates material flow for commercial customers with scheduled dock times. + Prepares bills of lading. + Maintains time records. + Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of shipping methods, equipment performance and quality of product. + Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems. + Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. + Adjusts errors and complaints. + Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing) + Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram format. + Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. + Ability displayed and accuracy of work produced, meeting company standards, and requiring little to no rework. + Searches out new tasks and expands their ability to perform assigned tasks without direct supervision. + Punctuality and attendance. + Willingness and cooperativeness with co-workers and supervisors; ability to accept constructive criticism. + Follow quality environmental policies and have knowledge of AS9100 and IS14001. + Follow safety procedures, security protocol, and wear proper PPE. Education: + High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience: + Five to seven years related experience and/or training + At least 3 months of experience driving a forklift Background Prerequisites: + Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing. Preferred Qualifications: + Knowledge of AS9100 and IS14001.
