The Shipping Revert and Materials Area Supervisor will be responsible for working with the Director of Material Movement and Inventory Control to develop and administer a shipping revert philosophy for the Toronto site that fosters a professional environment and a cohesive set of procedures, training and production that supports our annual operating plan.
The Shipping Revert and Materials Area Supervisor is responsible for assistance with the overall performance management and material movements of the Shipping and Revert department. Generally, this includes packaging, paperwork and professionalism
A key part of this position is to help drive strong performance training across the different crews to ensure safety standards, consistency in processing and improvement in throughput, OTD and customer satisfaction. This will be accomplished by working directly with the supervisors, material handlers, clerical staff, coordinators, planners, and a focus on training, material flow, schedules, etc.
Essential Functions
Identify training needs for both hourly and salary staff.
Deliver direct training or suggest appropriate resources.
Training and qualifications of material handlers. Completion of appropriate documentation.
Create continuity across crews based on these standards.
Office management to ensure a professional courteous environment and build a team atmosphere.
Establish procedures and standards for prioritization and packaging. Follow up with visual standards to support.
Work with, advise and train Supervisors assigned to these production responsibilities.
Act as a resource for both internal and external process improvements.
Provide maintenance feedback and equipment / facility suggestions.
Establish Material packaging, scheduling and prioritization for internal and external resources.
Provide a central and consistent source of direction for shipping and revert departments. Use indirect leadership to provide a focal point for packing and shipping issues.
Responsible for the lead supervision of the shipping department team and supervisors
Leads group to ensure daily shipping goals are met while coordinating with customer carriers.
Works as a member of the supervision team filling in for operational coverage when needed
Additional Responsibilities
Cover Area Supervisor duties during vacancies and absences.
Attend and/or conduct crew meetings.
Participate in corporate objectives – 5S, Lean objectives, customer certification programs, etc.

Education and Experience
Associate's degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 7 years of shipping, logistics and manufacturing experience.
Minimum of 7 years' experience in manufacturing, people management, supervision, and supervision under collective bargaining unit agreements, employee training & documentation experience .
Specific knowledge of titanium manufacturing, revert segregation, packaging and logistics required.
Special Skills
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Experience in conflict resolution
Knowledge of titanium products, customers, quality requirements, packaging requirements etc.
Familiarity with titanium alloy grades and products.
Manage multiple priorities effectively
Rationalize or de-conflict competing or divergent goals
Willing to commit the time, personally energy and commitment needed to drive change in a turn around environment.
