Job Title: Shipping Team Leader (Afternoons)  

Salary: £33,800 rising to £37,500 when role requirements are met + 20% shift premium  

Contract: Full time & permanent - Monday - Wednesday 16:30-2:30, Thursday 16:30-2:00 

Location: Desford, Leicestershire 

 

The Opportunity 

As a Team Leader, you'll guide a dynamic team in the shipping area during the 2nd shift. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, you'll swiftly address and communicate any issues. Your leadership will ensure the team consistently meets all safety and quality standards, championing a productive and safe work environment. 

 

As a Team Leader, you are accountable for, but not limited to: 

Lead the team to meet the daily goals and continually monitor and audit Health and Safety, People, Quality, Velocity and Cost metrics within your span of control as per business goals. 

Champion safe working practices and undertake training and further learning. 

Generate and work on Continuous Improvement ideas for your assigned area using the Continuous Improvement (CI) process and maintain the skills matrix for the team to 100% versatility, ensure standard work is updated. 

Participate in Rapid Improvement Workshops (RIWs) for Safety, Quality, Velocity and Cost within your team operation.

What You Can Demonstrate: 

Logistics Operations: Possess a good understanding of Logistics practices and knowledge of material systems 

Safety: Proactive in managing safety standards and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Foster psychological safety and team engagement, ensuring open communication and collaboration across diverse groups. 

Process Improvement: Evaluates logistics methods and maintains focus, with team input, on promoting the continuous improvement of processes and products utilising lean, Six Sigma and drive innovation. 

Shift Work: Ready to work different shifts

 

Top Candidates will have:  

Able to coach, motivate, evaluate, and recognise employees. Understanding the skills and experience of the team to highlight gaps and/or training/development needs and builds high performing teams. 

Skilled in reducing costs and eliminating inefficiencies.
