Position Overview

 

The Shop Foreman will be responsible for assigning and assisting in the daily maintenance and repair on all mobile equipment. This responsibility will include daily supervision of all mechanics, preventative maintenance personnel and include maintenance of the repair facility itself.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

Leads the shop team to excel with safe, efficient, and well-planned equipment maintenance. Requires PPE adherence in shop and in the field. Conducts routine inspection and certification of equipment. Directs R&M services with effective scheduling and coordination. Utilize CMMS for Work Order Requests and PM Service needs. Prioritize repairs based on need of asset, cost, and time of repair. Assign tasks based on mechanic skill and repair difficulty. Utilize Infield to review and approve mechanic staff time and cost coding. Review and approve coding and cost of PO requests for parts, supplies, and services. Communicate and coordinate with Operations staff. Provide updates on down assets and repair schedules. Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures. Strict adherence to Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.  Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all employees. Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and procedures.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Planning, assigning, and directing work. Willingness to develop subordinates’ technical and leadership skills and make recommendations for new job opportunities when appropriate. Effective management of employee performance through coaching, feedback (written and verbal), rewards, and discipline when necessary. Addressing complaints and resolving problems in a timely manner. Ability to get work done through others using effective delegation, scheduling, and time management practices.

 

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Required Qualifications

Must have a current CDL or ability to obtain CDL Must have a current and valid driver’s license. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills. Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance, and punctuality. Demonstrates the willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays as needed. Demonstrates ability to work and communicate well with Supervisors, Truck Drivers, Heavy Equipment Operators, and other employees. Demonstrates the ability to conform to and maintain OSHA, MSHA, DOT and all other company or state rules and regulations. Must pass pre-employment physical exam and pre-employment-controlled substance testing. Must have current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date.

 

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient with Windows, Excel, Word, Cat ET, Cummins Insite and Detroit programs.

The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to signal and handle equipment. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 30-75 lbs.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
