THE ROLE

Under general supervision, performs maintenance and repair duties as directed. Must be available to work any assigned shift.   

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, AND ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Performs maintenance and repair duties as directed. Must be available to work any assigned shift. Performs assigned preventative maintenance and lubrication for vehicles and equipment. Services and performs safety and maintenance inspections on refuse trucks and equipment. Cleans and repairs garbage and recycle containers. Writes repair orders from driver's Vehicle Condition Reports (VCRs). Picks up parts from vendors as needed. Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company policy and OSHA safety procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is:

One year of related shop experience and basic understanding of heavy equipment terminology. Principles and practices of job site safety, potential job hazards, and state and local regulations. Basic Computer programs. Common procedures and general Company operations, following established methods and standing instructions. High school diploma or GED preferred. Valid Driver’s License required.

Skills and / or Ability to:

Ability to promote the WASTE ZERO philosophy by making the best and highest use of all resources. Work under pressure, handle stressful situations and maintain flexibility. Ability to maintain high levels of activity or productivity; operating with effectiveness, and determination over extended periods of time. Ability to understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Consistently build knowledge and expertise about current job. Ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors and customers. Ability to communicate on a two-way radio or similar device.
