Job Summary
The Shop Monitor will assist Fabrication Facilities Manager, students and faculty by overseeing the safe and effective operation of the equipment and maintenance of the Design Arts Annex lab on a day-to-day basis. This position will work evenings and weekends.
Essential Functions
Oversee the safe and effective operation of the Design Arts Annex shop facility. Implements and enforces shop standards/policies and safety rules. Provides introductory support to students regarding course projects by assisting with technical advice/assistance on process and procedures. Ensures that students are operating tools & machinery safely and correctly. Provide occasional providence of shop training/orientation sessions and working guidelines for Interior and/or Architecture students that will be qualified to use the facilities and equipment. Supervise and conduct maintenance and repair of shop tools, equipment, and the shop environment. Maintain standards of cleanliness in the shop. Other tasks assigned by Fabrication Facilities Manager. Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree. Minimum of 2 years of experience with woodworking equipment and tools. Minimum of 1 year of experience with welding (MIG), metal working tools and equipment. Ability to work evenings and weekends.Location

This is a Part-time Casual position classified as Non-exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
