SHOP OPERATIONS MANAGER

Weatherford has an opening for a Shop Operations Manager in Huntsville, TX to ensure the efficient and effective operation of a shop environment. This role involves overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring customer satisfaction. 

Operational Efficiency: Ensure that all shop operations run smoothly and efficiently, minimizing downtime, and maximizing productivity. Customer Satisfaction: Maintain high levels of customer service to ensure a positive experience and address any customer concerns promptly. Staff Management: Supervise and train shop staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to perform their duties and meet performance standards. Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels to ensure that products are available and properly stocked, reducing the risk of stockouts or overstocking. Financial Management: Oversee financial aspects such as budgeting, shipment targets, and expense management to ensure the shop's profitability. Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all operations comply with health, safety, and regulatory requirements to provide a safe environment for both employees and customers.                  Roles & Responsibilities

SAFETY, SECURITY & COMPLIANCE 

Maintains the highest standards of corporate governance, ensuring that all activities are conducted ethically and in compliance with Company’s Security, Compliance & HSE policies, Management System, relevant laws, regulations, standards, and industry practices and complies with the Company’s Rules to Live By. Supervisors & Managers should demonstrate effective safety leadership for the health and safety arrangements of all subordinates and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises.

QUALITY 

Responsible for being familiar with the Company's Quality policies and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Weatherford’s Management System  Maintains service quality as immediate priorities when working across all areas of the business and continually seeks areas for improvement.

OPERATIONS 

Oversee daily operations, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment. Supervise and guide teams involved in the production and assembly of oilfield gas lift mandrels and valves, ensuring compliance with engineering and safety specifications. Utilize expertise in welding processes to evaluate and enhance production methods, ensuring structural integrity and adherence to industry standards. Implement Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to identify inefficiencies, reduce waste, and improve overall operational efficiency. Develop and execute strategies to optimize production schedules, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities effectively. Analyze workflows and implement process improvements to maximize resource utilization, maintain quality, and minimize downtime. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by training staff on Lean and Six Sigma practices and encouraging innovative problem-solving. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality control, and procurement, to ensure seamless coordination and project success. Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs), such as production output, cycle time, and defect rates, to track operational performance.  Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all operational activities.

COMMUNICATION 

Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and where appropriate external. Supervisors & Managers should clearly communicate expectations, roles, and responsibilities to their reports.

Experience & Education

REQUIRED 

Have 8 to10 years' experience in Shop Operation Management Have P&L experience Proven experience in operations management, preferably in manufacturing or oilfield equipment industries. Strong knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and quality standards. In-depth understanding of oilfield gas lift mandrels, valves, and their production processes. Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making. Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality. Proficiency in using production management software and tools for tracking performance and implementing process improvements.

PREFERRED

Bachelor’s Degree: Ideally in business administration, operations management, engineering, or a related field Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) or Six Sigma certification can be advantageous. Certification or demonstrated expertise in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or higher preferred).

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

REQUIRED 

Operational Management: Understanding of organizational effectiveness and operations management principles Inventory Management: Knowledge of inventory control processes and stock management Safety Regulations: Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations to ensure compliance. Financial Acumen: Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial principles such as labor absorption, JCV, PPV etc.  Leadership: Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate teams effectively Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, customers, and suppliers Organizational Skills: Outstanding organizational skills for scheduling, stock management, and maintaining shop cleanliness. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve operational issues quickly and efficiently Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with technical applications such as production automation, and software for tracking and managing operations. Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to ensure high standards of operations and safety. Adaptability: Flexibility to handle changing priorities and unexpected challenges Decision-Making: Strong decision-making abilities to make informed choices under pressure Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
