Shop Supervisor – South
Our client, a leading provider of construction and road surfacing solutions, is seeking a Shop Supervisor to join their expanding team. This position can be based in one of the following locations, with 25% to 30% travel required between them: Cranbrook, BC; Crescent Valley, BC; or Revelstoke, BC.

The Shop Supervisor will be responsible for aligning shop operations with the needs of the Operations team, ensuring both financial and technical performance across multiple locations. This role functions similarly to a Service Manager in a dealership, focusing on servicing and managing internal clients from the Operations team.

Key responsibilities include directing and coordinating safe maintenance of mobile equipment, daily activity planning, annual budgeting, and cost management for multiple shop locations. The role also emphasizes safety performance and behaviors within the shops.

The Shop Supervisor will work closely with Operations leaders across Construction, RMC, and Aggregates to prioritize repairs, schedule maintenance, and organize daily shop activities. Additionally, they will plan mechanic coverage for remote projects or job sites and drive continuous development in shop processes, 6S activities, and mechanic training.

Key Responsibilities:Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.Maintain a clean and safe environment for the shop, tools, and equipment.Oversee timely invoice processing, employee time posting, parts orders, and customer follow-up.Manage daily shop operations, including staffing and schedules, to ensure efficient repair progression.Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs.Budget and plan maintenance activities, including staffing, parts, schedules, and equipment needs.Oversee procurement, inventory, and fuel management via the purchase order system (JDE).Collaborate with leadership to communicate decisions with integrity, quality, and urgency.Conduct weekly safety meetings and enforce all safety protocols.Handle recruitment, training, discipline, and employee terminations as necessary.Perform other assigned duties as required.
Ideal Candidate:A valid Class 5 driver's license and a safe driving record.Technical experience with mobile or construction equipment.Hands-on supervisory experience working with mechanics or trades.Strong leadership skills with experience managing installation or expansion projects.Detail-oriented, with strong analytical skills for decision-making.High level of organization, capable of multitasking and problem-solving complex issues.Ability to communicate complex issues in executive or technical formats.Proficiency in promoting process improvement, developing standards, and managing processes.Skilled at building collaborative relationships internally and externally.Experience with budgeting, profit and loss tracking.Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with Oracle JDE is an asset.Five years of experience in manufacturing, facility maintenance, or operations.Three years of experience in facility or construction project management.Strong communication, analytical, interpersonal, conflict resolution, organizational, and financial skills.Willingness to take ownership and drive issues to resolution, preferring direct communication over text or email.
Work Schedule and Compensation:Hours: Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work.Salary: $105,834 to $117,593, plus a discretionary company bonus, car allowance, and benefits.
