Position Summary:
To lead in the instruction, delivery, coordination and evaluation of courses, curriculums and programs offered by the Crozer Health Simulation Center.
Will act as a liaison between other Simulation Instructors, students, and the Crozer Health Simulation Manager in regard to student performance in accordance with established policies and procedures of the Simulation Center and its credentialing agencies (ie., American Heart Association (AHA), the American College of Surgeons (ACS), and the PA Department of Health - Division of EMS)
Assures a safe and effective learning environment with feedback from students
Responsible for leading the presentations of course materials in accordance with the appropriate program(s) standards and curriculum
Knowledgeable in current and pending course curriculums from the American Heart Association (AHA), the American College of Surgeons (ACS), and the PA Department of Health - Division of EMS
Will protect the privacy of students, and the confidentiality of Crozer Health Simulation Center’s course records as required
Will provide orientation and assistance to other Simulation Center Instructors, in order to assure their compliance with the various course curriculum standards, as well as Crozer Health’s Simulation Center policy and procedures
Responsible to review and/or prepare course instruction materials (i.e.: handouts, slides, overheads, videos, A/V equipment, etc.) for each class conducted as necessary prior to the commencement of said class
Responsible for the safety, supervision and evaluation of students in the classroom setting
Responsible to adhere to and enforce the policies and procedures of Crozer Health Simulation Center
Responsible to be available as scheduled by Crozer Health Simulation Center Manager for professional, behavioral, or academic counseling requested by students, as applicable to expertise(s)
Assist with providing ongoing education and development (ie., professional development and/or curriculum updates) of other Simulation Center Instructors
Maintains program, course and student records as required Crozer Health and other credentialing agencies (ie., American Heart Association (AHA), the American College of Surgeons (ACS), and the PA Department of Health - Division of EMS).
Assist with the evaluation of students and Instructors to assure safe and effective academic and/or skills performance, in accordance with established Crozer Simulation Center courses/curriculums/programs (ie., courses from the American Heart Association (AHA), the American College of Surgeons (ACS), and the PA Department of Health - Division of EMS).
Understand the use and operation of different simulation technologies ranging from anatomic models, low and high-fidelity task trainers, screen-based simulation, full-body simulators and virtual reality simulators
Education and Training:
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Reading and language skills commensurate with the resource/educational materials to be utilized by Crozer Simulation Center courses and programs Has successfully completed one of the following (current certification/license preferred): A Paramedic (EMT-P / NRP) Course A Registered Nurse (RN) Program Medical School (MD / DO)Experience and Knowledge:
Able to demonstrate small and large group teaching ability Minimum five (5) years classroom instructional experience as demonstrated through lecture and/or group teaching Minimum of five (5) years Emergency Care experience Knowledge of local, state and national standards for emergent medical patient resuscitation Knowledge of local, state and national standards for emergent trauma patient resuscitation Knowledge of local, state and national standards for EMS patient care protocols, procedures and systems Knowledge in the operation of simulation equipment
Registration, Licensure and/or Certification:
Instructor Certified in the 2020 American Heart Association (AHA) Science in one or more of the following: Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support) AHA Basic Life Support Provider Certification AHA ACLS Provider Certification (Preferred) AHA PALS Provider Certification (Preferred) Pennsylvania EMS Instructor Certification (or obtainable within 1 year) NAEMSE Instructor – Level I & Level II (Preferred) NAEMT Instructor Certification (or obtainable within 1 year) NAEMT Course Coordinator Certification (Preferred) ACS ATLS Certified in one or more of the following: ATLS Coordinator ATLS Instructor ATLS Course Director ATLS Instructor Course Director Currently certified/licensed ALS Pre-Hospital Practitioner, Nurse, or Advanced Practice Clinician, or Physician
