Simulation Operations Specialist
Belmont University
This position reports directly to the Director of Operations within the Simulation Center and works with various stakeholders across the university and community, supporting the day to day needs of the simulation center.
Essential Functions:
1. Simulation Equipment Management: Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of simulation equipment, including mannequins, medical devices, and simulation software including programming software to model physiological responses to instructor specifications. Perform routine inspections, calibrations, and repairs to ensure equipment is functioning correctly.
2. Scenario Execution: Collaborate with instructional staff to implement realistic simulation scenarios that meet educational objectives. Oversee the execution of simulation exercises, ensuring all technical aspects are functioning as planned.
3. Technical Support: Provide technical support during simulation sessions, troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise including performing basic preventative maintenance and up-grades of simulation equipment. Train faculty and staff on the use of simulation equipment and technology.
4. Facility Management: Ensure the Simulation Center is maintained in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Coordinate with facilities staff for any necessary maintenance or repairs.
5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, maintenance, and repairs including maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment as needed for simulation. Prepare reports on simulation operations, including performance metrics and recommendations for improvements.
6. Collaboration and Training: Work closely with healthcare educators to understand their simulation needs and provide appropriate support. Assist in the training and orientation of new users and staff members.
7. Innovation and Improvement: Stay current with advancements in simulation technology and healthcare education. Propose and implement improvements to enhance the effectiveness of simulation-based training.
