Job Description
This Simulation Software Engineer will support the development of the Orion Spacecraft. Orion is NASA's spacecraft that will take humans deep into space. No other spacecraft in development has the technology needed for the extremes of deep space, such as life support, navigation, communications, radiation shielding, and the world's largest heat shield that will protect astronauts and help return them safely home. We are in the production phase and have finalized a contract for six Orion spacecraft missions with the possibility of ordering up to twelve in total. The first spacecraft delivered on this contract, Artemis III, will carry the first woman and the next man to the surface of the Moon. Orion is a critical part of the agency's Artemis program to build a sustainable presence on the lunar surface and to prepare us to move on to Mars.
ResponsibilitiesSupport the development of the Orion Spacecraft.Develop and maintain software simulations for the Orion Spacecraft.Utilize Python and C++ for software development.Ensure the simulations are accurate and meet the requirements for deep space missions.Collaborate with the engineering team to integrate simulations with spacecraft systems.Essential SkillsSoftware development experience.Experience using Python.Experience developing in C++.Simulation experience, particularly in simulations development.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with simulations development.Strong experience in software development.Work Environment
There is flexibility to work remote or on-site at the Houston or Denver facility. This is a great opportunity to support history in the making by playing a key role in the development of the first deep space aircraft. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $90.00/hr.
