The Simulation Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administrative and technical duties associated with the medical simulation program and the Department of Primary Care.

Responsibilities

The following outlines the basic responsibilities of this position. Other duties are to be assigned as necessary.

Day to day operations and coordination of the simulation programMaintain and enhance current knowledge on the use and operation of different simulator technologiesProgram, operate, and maintain video system (in conjunction with the IT Department)Assist in operation, maintenance, and support of mannequins, task trainers, and simulatorsAssure simulation equipment is in good working condition prior to the start of all simulations; troubleshoot all simulation equipmentInventory management including maintain inventory and purchasing recordsManage, order and stock supplies and equipmentMaintain warranty and service contracts on simulatorsSupervise preventive maintenance of equipment according to manufacturers' recommendations.Monitor scheduled maintenance to ensure that equipment is operational.Work with manufacturers or vendors to correct equipment deficiencies in order to minimize down time.Research vendors for supplies and equipment, obtain bids, and make purchasing recommendationsTeaching as appropriateSupervise participants in use of simulation equipmentMaintain simulation space as a clean, safe, and operational facilityAssist with simulation scenario design, programming and executionSupport the development of course curricula using simulationAssist in recruiting, training, coordinating and assessing Standardized PatientsPerform simulator and room set-up and break down for simulations and Department CoursesScheduling simulationsScheduling Faculty, Actors and Students for simulationsProvide orientation on equipment and simulation spaces as neededSupport the goals of the simulation program and of TouroCOMSpecial projects as directed by the Chair and/or Vice Chair of the Department Qualifications

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s Degree preferredMedical Training such as EMT, RN or Paramedic preferredExperience with medical simulation is preferred

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
