Simulation Support Intern - Summer 2025

The Motorsports Technology Group (MTG) supports the Pratt Miller Motorsports Programs with cutting-edge tools and capabilities to maximize success on the racetrack.  

 

OVERVIEW:   

The Simulation Support Engineer will work closely with the MTG Simulation Team to develop simulation tools and methods supporting the Pratt Miller Motorsports programs.    

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SKILLS:   

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

 

Interact with Simulation Team to understand requirements and applications for each development-oriented project 

Complete the development project typically consisting of one or more of the following steps: 

Collect any necessary data to support development or validation 

Perform simulation modeling and/or validation project 

Document relevant project details, results, and/or validation studies 

Integrate the project into the end user processes and workflows 

Work with the team and/or end users to educate them in the tool use 

 

 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 

Enrolled in a BS, MS, or PhD program in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering 

 

DESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:  

Required Specialized Knowledge and Skills: 

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 

Vehicle dynamics background 

Vehicle simulation background 

Proficiency with MATLAB and/or Python 

Willingness to independently learn and embrace new concepts 

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills for communicating with other Pratt & Miller Engineering team members and customers 

Attention to detail 

Drive for quality 

Strong work ethic 

 

Preferred Specialized Knowledge and Skills: 

Technology savvy 

Experience with vehicle analysis methods 

Experience with multi-body simulation tools 

Vehicle development experience using full-vehicle simulation, high-performance vehicle development a plus 

Experience with applied simulation analysis 

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

Long hours may be required 

Stress may occur periodically 

 

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:  

Minimum of 40 hrs/week, 8 hrs/day 

Pay Range:

$18.00 - $37.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
