Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Site Logistics Operations Leader in Elizabethtown, KY.


The Site Logistics Operations Leader provides direct leadership for Dow and contract employees by helping them to clarify roles, boundaries, performance expectations, team rules, accountability, and deliver the committed results. This position requires someone with strong EH&S focus, work process knowledge, leadership and team building skills. This role utilizes operate plant and material flow work process knowledge, technical expertise to address operational issues and improve safety, productivity and reliability to meet both internal and external customer needs.

In this role, you will serve as a first-line leader for a team and require knowledge of operational business practices within your discipline or functional area. You will need to understand how to apply established practices and coordinate activities of multiple teams to improve efficiency. You should also be able to explain information, convey performance expectations, and handle sensitive issues.

It is your responsibility to be able to use judgment to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems and escalate issues with broader business impacts to your leader. You have formal supervisory responsibilities and lead teams either of technical operations, business operations, or operational support employees. You will set daily priorities and coordinate resources to meet operational objectives. Your performance impacts the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of your team members and their contributions to broader operations.
 

ResponsibilitiesContribute to an environment that fosters team and individual empowerment and ensure effective and sustained organizational culture for Empowerment.Provide leadership and performance management of personnel and work teams by enhancing performance through mentoring/coaching (role clarity, employee development, communication/reinforcing expectations, training gap analysis, recognition, goal setting, etc.).Manage key stakeholder relationships and communications.Ensure the department is in compliance with EH&S requirements and manage compliance plans as needed.Ensure that Most Effective Technology (MET) and specific operating discipline requirements are in place.Determine and utilize performance indicators and productivity data (i.e. metrics, customer feedback, self-assessments, audits, etc) to evaluate system effectiveness and facilitate opportunity identification and definition.Provide planning input for maintenance and capital budgeting cycle.Support defining and lead the implementation of a capital improvement plan.Identify and remove barriers for the effective implementation and application of the site logistics technology.Identify improvement opportunities and drive implementation of solutions through work process, management system and technical modifications.Ensure business requirements pertaining to strategic customer complaints are met and act as the site logistics host for all customer visits to Dow owned assets.

QualificationsA minimum of a bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related other Sciences.  In lieu of a degree, relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant (PO2/Sgt) Military ranking also accepted. At least 6-8 years experience as manufacturing engineer or related role. Supply chain experience is preferred.A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Teamwork, team management and delegation, and mentoring skills are needed.Taking Initiative: Proactively identifying opportunities and challenges and acting without being prompted. It involves being self-motivated, creative, and willing to go beyond basic job requirements to achieve better results.Value Creation: Generating positive outcomes and benefits for the organization, customers, or stakeholders. This includes improving efficiency, enhancing customer satisfaction, developing innovative products or services, and increasing profitability.
