Site Program Coordinator Rochester, NY (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=53+Lewis+St.+Rochester+NY+USA+14605) • Lewis Street Neighborhood Center Job Type Full-time Description $21.25/hr. and a Free Family YMCA Membership Under the general direction of the Neighborhood Center Program Director and the Director of Youth Services, the Site Program Coordinator is responsible for supervision, planning, implementing, and organizing the daily requirements of the Lewis Street YMCA Neighborhood Center. Major emphasis is on community outreach and program excellence and developing quality care of the highest standard. The incumbent will supervise any staff and volunteers that are assigned to them, maintain a safe environment for all participants, and communicate with parents/guardians regularly. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester is conveyed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: · Under direction of the Neighborhood Center Program Director: plan, organize, and implement the daily community outreach schedule and support community events and programs at the neighborhood center. · Under direction of the Director of Youth Services: plan, organize and oversee OST programs at the neighborhood center · Maintain a safe environment for all participants in the programs. · Maintain all records, attendance, fire drills, sign in/out, behavior, and medical logs as determined by the supervisor. · Supervise, observe, train, evaluate, and mentor all staff and/or volunteers. · Maintain a positive working relationship amongst staff, volunteers, and site personnel. · Maintain positive relations with school personnel. · Maintain equipment and inventory supplies. · Maintain clean facilities at the Branch. · Knowledge of YMCA of Greater Rochester procedures, rules, regulations, and guidelines, and Branch regulations. · Display a positive attitude that is conducive to good public relations. · Assist in recruitment of program participants and interviewing program staff. · Communicate on a daily basis with caregivers regarding children in all youth programs. · Oversee implementation of Achievement Gap, CDLI and BYMOC practices during OST · Assist with Annual Campaign activities. · Maintain all required certifications. · Attend all required meetings and trainings. Requirements · Be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree preferred. · At least 5 years experience working in urban settings with emphasis on community outreach. · At least 3 years of working with urban youth in youth development settings. · Bring to this position maturity, responsibility, and a sincere interest in working with people. · Have strong interpersonal and organization skills. · Excellent written and oral communication skills. · Have the ability to assist in supervising staff and volunteers. · Possess a general knowledge and understanding of the YMCA, its goals, and its mission. · Possess knowledge of various resources for programming ideas and the skills to utilize that information in directing daily activities. · CPR/AED and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: · Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times. · Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. aggressive behavior). · Ability to move around the gym/field to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical, and emotional needs. · Ability to lift equipment and supplies up to 40 lbs. · Ability to work in all elements (i.e. outside in all weather) · Ability to move from program site to branch or site to site, and is required to enter all YMCA environments including, program space, buses, schools, pools, and program area. Salary Description $21.25 per hour
