Intermedia’s Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, availability and performance of our critical applications. As an SRE at Intermedia, you will focus on maintaining the application reliability, working closely with software development and DevOps teams to design, monitor, and enhance application stability. You will use engineering best practices to automate processes, increase observability, and minimize downtime, ensuring our applications are always ready to support our customers’ needs.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure the availability and performance of critical applications by designing and implementing robust monitoring, alerting and optimization strategies. Define and maintain SLOs and SLIs to meet application reliability goals. Collaborate with development teams to enhance performance, reduce latency and improve response times. Work closely with DevOps to ensure smooth transitions between infrastructure and application layers. Automate routine tasks such as deployments, rollbacks, scaling and recovery processes. Continuously improve deployment pipelines to reduce manual intervention and enable progressive rollouts. Integrate automated testing and validation into development pipelines to support reliable application delivery. Implement and maintain observability tools to monitor production environments and application health. Develop dashboards, alerts, and logging systems to provide real-time insights into application behavior. Act as a key responder during incidents, collaborating with DevOps and development teams to troubleshoot and resolve application issues. Conduct root cause analysis on incidents and develop long-term solutions to prevent recurrences. Run firedrills and chaos engineering exercises to ensure system resilience under failure scenarios. Monitor resource usage and plan for future capacity needs to support growth and performance. Work with security teams to ensure application-level compliance with security best practices, including secure communication, data encryption, and access controls. Lead weekly production meetings to review system health, discuss recent incidents and prepare for upcoming releases.Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience). Proven experience in a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), DevOps, or similar role. Strong expertise in application monitoring, observability tools and troubleshooting techniques. Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash, Terraform, Ansible, Octopus). Experience with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools and configuration management systems. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams.Desired Skills
Experience with chaos engineering practices and tools. Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Familiarity with microservices architecture and multi-tenant environments.
